Kilgore, Texas – The Blinn College football team downed Kilgore, 24-16, on Saturday night in Kilgore to remain undefeated this season.
The Rangers took a 3-0 lead in the first quarter before the Buccaneers could break through Kilgore’s defense and grab a 7-3 lead that they would never surrender.
“Kilgore is a really hard place to play and we knew that going into it,” said Ryan Mahon, Blinn head coach. “Their defense gave us all we wanted, but our guys kept fighting and ended up doing really well.”
Dandre Reed rushed in the first touchdown for the Buccaneers in the second quarter for Blinn to take a 7-3 lead. Ryan Buckley added on three more points for the Buccaneers in the first half with a field goal for Blinn to hold a 10-3 lead going into the third quarter.
In the third quarter, the Buccaneers tacked on 14 points as Robert Franklin scored a rushing touchdown and Devin Williams and Quinton Newton connected on a touchdown pass for Blinn to take a 24-3 lead.
Kilgore began to rally by scoring the next 13 points, but it wasn’t enough as Blinn walked away with the win.
The Buccaneers are undefeated this season with a 4-0 record in the Southwest Junior College Football Conference.
On Saturday, Sept. 30 the No. 6 Buccaneers will face off against No. 4 Tyler Junior College at 7 p.m. at Cub Stadium.
