Blinn grabbed an early lead against the Roadrunners after sophomore midfielder Felix Mesquita took a feed from sophomore midfielder Joseph Boyce and freshman defender Joe Loughnane in the 10th minute and turned it into a 1-0 edge.
Even after Angelina responded with a pair of goals in the 15th and 35th minutes, sophomore defender William Spellman‘s dish to freshman midfielder Jay Hernandez in the 58th minute pulled the Bucs even.
Angelina used goals in the 70th and 89th minutes to pull away for good.
The Roadrunners outshot Blinn 23-19.
Sophomore goalkeeper Kevin Pena made nine saves for the Bucs.
“I’m proud of the lads this evening,” Blinn head coach Michael McBride said. “They went toe-to-toe with a very good team on its home pitch. “We’re looking forward to playing at home Wednesday after a grueling stretch of games on the road.”
Blinn hosts Jacksonville College for a region match at 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 12, at Hohlt Park’s Rankin Field in Brenham, Texas.
Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 42 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
