The Buccaneers (22-1 overall, 10-0) drained 17 treys and limited the Phillies to just 30 points through three quarters before Panola finally found some offensive momentum in the final period.
“We played better defensively for three quarters than we have all year,” Blinn head coach Jeff Jenkins said. “To hold the third-place team in our conference to 16 points in the first half and 30 after three quarters is really good. I’m very proud of our effort.”
The Bucs built a 24-12 lead after the first period and led 46-16 at the half. Blinn then took a 70-30 cushion into the fourth quarter.
Sophomore guard Makayla Patterson tallied a team-high 19 points, followed by 12 for sophomore guard Skylar Barnes, and 11 apiece for sophomore forward Tiffany Tullis and freshman guard Amyria Walker. Sophomore guard Hannah Humphrey finished with 10.
Blinn returns to play with a non-conference tilt against Southwest Assemblies of God at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 13, at the Kruse Center in Brenham, Texas.
Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 42 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
