JACKSONVILLE, Texas — The No. 16 Blinn College women’s basketball team (1-0) defeated Louisiana State University Eunice, 67-58, Saturday to open the season at the Jacksonville Classic.
“I was very proud of our competitiveness and our will to win,” head coach Jeff Jenkins said. “We had problems scoring all game, but finally found a way to win.”
Hailey Atwood led the offense with 21 points, Keaundra Eddings followed with 17, Deja Adrian scored 14, and Telisha Brown put up nine.
LSU Eunice took a 15-13 lead to open the first quarter and led 32-22 at halftime. The Buccaneers began to rally in the third quarter, outscoring the Bengals 27-18 to trail by one. Blinn finished off LSU Eunice with an 18-8 run in the final quarter for the win.
Next, the Buccaneers will host McLennan Community College in the Buccaneers’ home opener on Monday, Jan. 25, at 5:30 p.m. in the Kruse Center.
