The Buccaneers shot a two-day, two-round total of 693 in the nine-team tournament. Texas Wesleyan University finished first with a total score of 627.
Blinn sophomore Madeline Goad and freshman Yulisa Espinoza paced the Buccaneers with a total score of 169, good for a 20th-place tie. Freshman Alexis Graham (173) and sophomore Katelyn Foster (174) finished tied for 24th and 26th place, respectively. Freshman Holly Patterson shot a 177 for a 31st-place tie; freshman Kennedy Settimi was 37th with a 180; and freshman Leyah Wilson posted a 194 for 39th.
“The ladies got their season started Sunday in Victoria, and the first round was a bit of a struggle,” Blinn head coach David Johnson said. “They wanted to improve in round two today and did. Coach Katie Johnston and I are proud of the way they competed today, and they are looking forward to the next tournament in Tyler.”
The Buccaneers resume their season at the Tyler Junior College Spring Invitational on Monday, Feb. 28, in Bullard, Texas.
Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 42 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
