The 12th-ranked Blinn College volleyball team overwhelmed College of DuPage en route to a 25-15, 25-6, 25-9 sweep on opening day of the Blinn Invitational on Thursday at the Kruse Center in Brenham, Texas.
The Buccaneers improved to 22-2 overall and pushed their winning streak to 15. Blinn also earned its 15th sweep of the season.
“It was a good win for us, and a good way to start the tournament,” Bucs head coach Terry Gamble said.

The Bucs got a team-high 10 kills from sophomore right-side hitter Kellen Dorotik, who pushed her NJCAA Division I-leading kill total to 382 for the year. Freshman outside hitter MaKenna Loo and freshman middle blocker Jana Cetkovic followed with six and five kills, respectively.
Freshman setter Bromli Watson had a solid night setting up the offense as she tallied a team-best 15 assists. Freshman Leah Hoss followed with eight.
At the service line, Loo paced her team with three aces.

Freshman libero Sophie Ilagan secured Blinn’s floor defense with 11 digs. At the net, Cetkovic had three block assists, while Dorotik, Watson, and freshman middle blocker Lillie Thibodeaux had two apiece. Freshman middle blocker Karolina Karabasz had one solo block for the Bucs.
Blinn continues play in the Invitational on Saturday with a tilt against Dallas Christian College at 1 p.m., followed by a 5 p.m. bout against Jefferson College.
Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 49 national championships since 1987.
