The Multi-County New Landowner Education program is a series of 8 informational meetings, seminars, and field days designed to help new landowners in Austin, Colorado, Fayette, & Washington Counties aware of how to manage natural resources and what types of agricultural enterprises are best for their property. Participants in the program will hear from leading experts, successful natural resource managers, and local producers in agriculture. These experts will focus on the fundamentals of natural resource management and walk through a step-by-step guide to successfully managing resources and venturing into a sustainable agriculture endeavor. You will hear from AgriLife Extension Specialists, County Extension Agents, and others on concepts related to Wildlife Management, Pond Management, Forage Production, Weed & Brush Control, Horticulture Production, Honey Bees, Livestock Production, and much more. Networking is another great opportunity provided through this program series; bringing landowners from the four-county-area together to talk about plans, successes, and challenges in an effort to help one another.
The programs will be held on the third Friday of the months of February through May and August through November. Each month’s meeting will be held at different locations in one of the four counties. The meetings begin at 1:30pm and will last between 4 and 5 hours depending on the topic and possible tour stops. The cost for the program series is $125.00 per person, $200.00 per couple for all eight meetings, $20.00 per person per meeting.

March Program – Pond Management – Fayette County AgriLife Extension Office (3 CEUs)
The second meeting for the 2020 series will take place on Friday, March 20, 2020 at the Winedale Historical Complex Theater Barn located at 3738 FM 2714 in Round Top, Texas. The goal of this session is to help landowners effectively utilize pond construction, vegetation management, pond ecology, and stocking rates/management. This is a great opportunity for any and all landowners to learn from the experts in a classroom setting and have the opportunity to ask questions. Also, if you have a pond weed you would like identified please bring it and we will be glad to identify it for you. Any plant sample need to be as fresh as possible (in a container with water), include leaves and roots, and flower (if applicable). Don’t miss this wonderful opportunity!
