The United States is facing threats to its sovereignty with the current crisis taking place along the southern border.

The crisis taking place along the United States border is threatening our sovereignty as a nation. Although the government has taken measures to stem the onslaught of illegal immigrants coming across its borders, these measures are not enough. Approximately 60,000 illegal immigrants have come across the border this year.ย  Of those 60,000 one-third are said to be children. Cartel criminals, gang members, and possible terrorist are among the other 40,000 that have crossed our borders. While the Federal Government has done little to stop the onslaught Texas has stepped up.ย  With its deployment of Texas Department of Safety Troopers and the Texas National Guard numbers crossing have decreased.

Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto expressed concern in how immigrants were being treated at the border.ย  When the National Guard was sent to the border to aid in the onslaught of 20,000 child immigrants two months ago Nieto stated the action was not only disagreeable but reprehensible.ย  Such a policy has no part “in the spirit of cordiality and friendship between two countries,” he told El Universal newspaper.

“But I believe that those who get to the border should be treated decently, with sufficient care, and according to the immigration policies of the United States – but no, in no way does that mean combating this migratory phenomenon that has increased in recent months with a National Guard on the border,” stated Nieto.

On July 21, Perry announced that he would deploy 1,000 soldiers of the Texas National Guard on the Mexican border because of all the unaccompanied, undocumented children flooding into the United States from Central America.

Several Texas officials have issued a fiery defense of Texas efforts, and are rebuking Mexico for their protests, calling them โ€œoffensiveโ€.
