The Leadership Advisory Board of Austin County is charged with the purpose of promoting Extension work in the community and strengthening the programmatic efforts of the Agents in Austin County. This year’s event will take place on Thursday, January 14th, at the Liedertafel Hall, 116 Lux Rd. in Sealy. The event will showcase events of the year for the Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service of Austin County.
Our keynote speaker will be Mr. Joel Cowley, president and chief executive officer of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. Prior to joining the Show, Mr. Cowley worked for Certified Angus Beef LLC, the not-for-profit division of the American Angus Association, where he began as executive account manager in the international division and finished as assistant director of the foodservice division. Before his employment with CAB, he was a faculty member at Michigan State University, where he served as an extension beef cattle specialist. Prior to that, he was employed by Texas A&M University as a lecturer and livestock judging team coach. An 11-year 4-H member in Wyoming and Colorado, Cowley was active in livestock projects and a member of national champion 4-H wool judging and livestock judging teams. He first attended the Houston Livestock Show™ as an intercollegiate judging contestant in 1985 and has participated in every Show since 1988 as a coach, livestock judge or employee. We are very fortunate to have Mr. Cowley as our speaker. The program will kick off with registration and a social at 6:00 p.m. followed by a meal and the presentations at 7:00 p.m. Please RSVP to the Extension Office at (979)865-2072, or via email at [email protected].
