Tuesday, May 24, 2016 was the Run-Off Election for Austin County Precinct 1.  Challenger Mark Lamp and Incumbent Reese Turner both gave it a good try but, in the end Precinct 1 chose Mark Lamp as their new county commissioner.  Turnout for this election, according to Marcus Peña Austin County Tax Assessor/Collector, was better than average.  When early voting closed after May 20th, Lamp was ahead 376 to 141.

Today, the total votes cast for precinct 1 voting were 172 for Lamp and 49 for Turner.  This gave Lamp a resounding 548 votes to Turners 190 or 74.25% of the vote to 25.75%.  Lamp will take office on the first part of January.
