The 5th annual Klay’s for K9’s Benefit happened Saturday October 14th.   The event was held at Texas Premier Sporting Arms in Sealy, TX and lasted for 2 days.  Friday was practice in preparation for the tournament the next day.  Friday night featured a BBQ Dinner for participants.  The meal was catered by the Austin County Peace Officers Association who donated the food and did the cooking.  Bellville Meat Market also donated the meat for the dinner.  The next day’s tournament took place with teams of four shooters competing against one another for the top team spot.  Each shooter was also in competition for the top marksman spot.   The Klay’s for K9’s is an annual event with proceeds going toward the training of new police K9 dogs to be donated to police departments in need.

K9 Officers started informally in 2000 and donated dogs as often as financially able.  In 2013 the organization became formally organized.  Since 2013, they have gifted over 35 K9’s.    A K9 is estimated to cost around $25,000 – $30,000 per animal once they are fully trained to be sent to a department for service.    K9 Officers can be reached at:  (281) 757-1800 or you can visit them on the web at www.k9officers.org.  Below are the photos we took throughout Saturdays tournament as well as a demonstration video of one of the trained K9’s in action.
