Description
Support students’ intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth as an In-Class Support Paraprofessional at Brenham Elementary School. In this role, you’ll work alongside the PE teacher to help students develop skills for success.
What you'll do
- Prepare instructional materials and classroom displays, maintain classroom organization, and assist with equipment inventory and care.
- Deliver instructional support to students with disabilities individually and in groups, adjusting teacher-developed plans to student needs.
- Implement Individual Education Program accommodations, positive behavior supports, and behavior plans in collaboration with classroom teachers.
- Provide and supervise personal and medical care, including non-complex health procedures, student lifting, and positioning as applicable.
- Supervise students throughout the school day and assist them with computer applications and related assistive technology.
What you'll bring
- High school diploma or GED and a valid Texas Educational Aide Certificate.
- Ability to work with children with special needs, follow verbal and written instructions, and communicate effectively.
- Knowledge of classroom technology and willingness to train in Crisis Prevention Intervention Strategies.
- Ability to maintain emotional control under stress, follow behavior intervention procedures, and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to perform frequent standing, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, and light lifting under 15 pounds.
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry 45 pounds or more, position students with physical disabilities, and assist non-ambulatory students.
- Work involves physical restraint, frequent prolonged and irregular hours, occasional districtwide travel, and possible biological and outdoor exposure.
