The Sealy City Council was given an update on the Interstate 10 construction at their Tuesday night meeting. Clay Harris, an engineer assigned with oversight of the project by TXDOT, gave a slideshow presentation explaining the various stages that the I-10 widening project has gone through. The construction is a three and a half year project with an estimated fourteen months left before completion. This puts the estimated completion date around August or September 2022. The current phase of the project is the most intrusive to Sealy with Hwy 36 and Rexville Rd. phases being the most obvious. The Rexville Overpass is scheduled to be open in the next 2-3 weeks with the goal to have it open well before school opens.
The Chew Rd. section of the construction is completed but, the construction of a new bridge over the Brazos River has been slow due to high water levels according to Harris.
