9:58 AM – July 8, 2024 – Beryl has now been downgraded to a tropical storm.  We still aren’t out of the woods as the eye is passing to the right of Austin County and heading to the right and off to the Dallas/Ft. Worth area.  Sustained winds are still at 30 mph with gusts even higher.  Stay safe Austin County!

9:16 AM – July 8, 2024 – Ashley Slater, Bellville City Council Position 3:  As of now, we have a tree across the power lines on W Austin that has power out to most of the west side of town and parts of W Nichols and S Masonic. Our crews won’t be able to clear it until the wind dies down a bit.  There is also a tree across the road on W Nichols. We are in the process of getting it cleared now.  We received an email from the trash company that stated residential service will be on Thursday this week instead of Wednesday.

8:30 AM – July 8, 2024 – Austin County Office of Emergency Management:  Be aware there are downed power lines and trees throughout the area. Please shelter in place if at all possible. Crews are not able to mobilize to clear hazards until the storm has passed. Stay safe!

8:11 AM – July 8, 2024 – Austin County is beginning to head into the worst of Beryl.  Wind gusts are reported at 56 to 61 mph.  Stay safe Austin County.

7:45AM – July 8, 2024 – San Bernard Electric:  Restoration efforts have been ceased due to the wind speeds and safety for our linemen. We will resume restoring power once the wind speeds drop below 35mph. SBEC is monitoring wind speeds throughout the service territory and crews will be released to work as weather permits in each area.

7:35 AM – July 8, 2024 – San Bernard Electric:  Outage in Pattison area along FM 1456 and FM 359.  Outage in Waller County at tip of Grimes County Line along FM 2979.  Outage Total estimated: 3530 meters

7:25 AM – July 8, 2024 – San Bernard Electric:  Larger Outage in Waller County Restored.  Outages beginning in Austin and Colorado County.  SBEC shows numerous outages with around 2,700 without power.

6:20 AM – July 8, 2024 – San Bernard Electric Cooperative, Inc.:  SBEC service area is starting to experience outages from Beryl. Crews have been dispatched to find cause of the outage. Once cause has been found and weather permits, they will begin power restoration.

6:15 AM – July 8, 2024 – Sealy PD:  The weather has continued to deteriorate in our area. The winds have started to pick up and the rain is increasing in intensity.  At this time we have no crashes to report and no roads are closed due to weather.  If you do not need to be on the road, please stay inside.

6:29 PM – July 7, 2024: Austin County business offices will be closed 7-8-2024 due to Hurricane Beryl.  They will reopen the following day 7-9-2024.

6:29 PM – July 7, 2024: Austin County Commissioners Court has been rescheduled for either Friday 7-12-2024 or next Monday 7-15-2024.  Please check austincounty.com for updates to this meeting date.
