In the early hours of September 22, 2024, a high-speed pursuit initiated by the Sealy Police Department resulted in a crash involving a Bellville Police officer. At approximately 3:00 a.m., a Sealy PD unit attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation on Highway 36. The driver failed to comply, leading to a pursuit that traveled north at a high rate of speed.

The pursuit came to a dramatic end just south of Bellville when the suspect’s vehicle collided with the rear of an occupied Bellville PD patrol car. Authorities believe the crash was an intentional act on the part of the suspect. The Bellville Police Officer inside the vehicle sustained minor injuries and was transported to Mid Coast Medical Center for treatment.

The suspect was seriously injured in the crash and had to be extracted from the vehicle. They were airlifted to a nearby hospital, where their condition remains unknown at this time.

Sealy PD was assisted during the pursuit by the Austin County Sheriff’s Office (ACSO), Bellville PD, and the Texas Department of Public Safety (TXDPS). The incident is still under investigation, and multiple charges are pending against the suspect.

Authorities are relieved that the Bellville officer involved sustained only minor injuries, and they have expressed their wishes for a speedy recovery.

Further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
