Four sophomores from Blinn College volleyball coach Kalie Mader’s first recruiting class signed with four-year universities on Wednesday.
Danusia Sipa Borgeaud signed with Southwestern Oklahoma State University, Eboni Mitchell signed with Texas Southern University, Ally Lanik signed with Oklahoma Baptist University, and MeKayla Gurley signed with Minot (N.D.) State University.
“This is a unique group and my first group to go through Blinn,” Mader said. “They had to make changes on and off the court, but what I most proud of is that they kept their academics in line.”
Borgeaud moved from outside hitter as a freshman to defensive specialist during her sophomore season. Borgeaud led the Buccaneers with 559 digs and totaled 303 kills in her two years at Blinn.
“There are so many memories made here at Blinn that will last forever,” Borgeaud said. “My favorite moment is winning regionals my freshman year.”
Mitchell brought personality to the team and was a force at the net as she totaled 543 kills in her two years at Blinn.
Lanik stepped in as a starter at the libero position during her sophomore season and led the Buccaneers with 890 assists. Gurley played sparingly, but was a hard worker in the gym and the classroom.
Blinn finished with an 18-22 overall record in 2016.
Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 36 NJCAA national championships since 1987. For more information, visit www.buccaneersports.com.
