Blinn College softball is sending four players from its 2015 team to four-year universities and three of those players will stay in Texas.

Shortstop Delilah Pacheco (Corpus Christi) signed with the University of Utah, outfielder Alli Spivey (Brenham) signed to play at Abilene Christian University, pitcher Jaiden Rawls (Beaumont) is headed to the University of Texas at Tyler and second baseman Avery Mullendore (Fort Worth) signed to play at Tarleton State University.

The Buccaneers are coming off a successful season that saw a trip to the NJCAA National Championships in St. George, Utah, where they placed fifth. Blinn finished with a glossy 45-16 record, including a Region XIV Tournament Championship and a 2-2 record at nationals.

“These girls are good students, which makes them attractive to four-year schools and they are upholding the tradition of players at Blinn,” head coach Rick Church said.

Pacheco led Blinn in at-bats (220), runs (64), hits (89) and stolen bases (49) and led the Buccaneers with a .405 batting average.

Spivey was second in runs (37), third in hits (56) and second in stolen bases (21) while hitting for a .337 average.

Rawls started 26 games in the circle and finished with a 20-7 record and 88 strikeouts in 174.2 innings. Rawls was also a solid hitter with a .281 average, and ranked third on the team with six home runs.

Mullendore was second on the team in at-bats (176) and picked up 54 hits while knocking in 25 runs and batting .307. She was named the most outstanding defensive player for the national tournament and was named Blinn’s Atkinson Cup winner for maintaining a 3.952 grade point average over two years at Blinn.
