The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service in Galveston County and the Galveston County Master Gardeners will host the Urban Orchard Series: Propagating Fig Trees program on Jan. 21 in La Marque.

he event will be from 1-3 p.m. at the AgriLife Extension office in Galveston County, 4102-B Main St. Participants will also visit the Discovery Garden Orchard in Carbide Park for hands-on experience with different fig varieties.

Propagating fig trees program speaker, topics

Texas Master Gardener Barbara Canetti is the featured speaker. Master Gardeners have received special horticultural training and volunteer their expertise on lawns, trees, shrubs, flowers and gardens to their communities.

Canetti will cover:

  • Fig growth habit.
  • Fig fruiting varieties.
  • Fig maintenance.
