Yesterday’s Election Results are in (unofficially) between local state and national levels of government and we are going to give you a highlight summary below. In Austin County a total of 5144 registered voters took part with 2,763 being cast on election day, 2192 being cast in early voting and 189 cast absentee. That makes a voter turnout of 25.9% of eligible voters in Austin County taking part. Election Night Results March 1, 2022
Local Elections:
County Commissioner Pct 4 incumbent Chip Reed won against Garry L. Kuciemba 779 to 299 with the majority of votes being cast on election day.
All of the Justice of the Peace positions were unopposed as well as the Republican Party County Chair position.
State Race – Governor:
Republican Governor Race – The race was called for Greg Abbott who won outright against his challengers garnering 66.5% of the vote with greater than 95% of the votes being reported. Coming in second was Allen west with 12.3%, Don Huffines in third with 11.9.
Democrat Governor Race – Beto O’Rourke ran away with the election garnering 91.3% of the votes with Joy Diaz a distant second with 3.2% and Michael Cooper with 3.0%.
State Race – Attorney General
The Republican Attorney General Race saw a run-off between Ken Paxton and George P. Bush with neither getting a clear majority of the vote. Paxton came close with 42.7, much greater than Bush’s 22.8% but, still not enough for a clear victory. Coming in third was Eva Guzman with 17.5% of the vote.
Democrat Attorney General Race saw Candidate Rochelle Garza win her primary with 43.2% of the vote, Joe Jaworski coming in second with 19.6% and Lee Merritt coming in third with 19.4%.
State Race – Lieutenant Governor
Republican Lt. Governor incumbent Dan Patrick easily clinched his race with a resounding 76.5″ of the vote. Second place was Daniel Miller with 6.8% and Trayce Bradford coming in at 6.5%.
In the Democrat race Mike Miller won with 41.7% followed by Michelle Be3ckley with 30.2% and Carla Brailey coming in third with 28.1%.
Republican Propositions:
All of the Republican Propositions passed by wide margins.
