The showers Austin County mercifully received earlier last week were enough to push us into the green zone for the purposes of burning in the county. County Judge Tim Lapham did state that the next 14 days were questionable as to how long the ban would stay off. However, Commissioner Reichardt stated he was hesitant to take it off but, at the same time had been receiving calls from residents wanting to know if it was safe to burn. The general consensus was to give the county the remaining week, maybe two to do their burning before putting the burn ban back in place on Austin County.
