First United Methodist Church (FUMC) Sealy is spreading holiday cheer a little early this year with their “Christmas in July” donation drive, aimed at stocking their giving pantry with much-needed essentials for local families. From July 24th through July 31st, community members are encouraged to donate non-perishable items to help meet the ongoing needs of individuals and families facing hardship.
Top priority items include feminine hygiene products, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, deodorant, and pantry staples. These everyday essentials are often in short supply and make a real difference for those who rely on the pantry.
Not sure what to donate? Here are some suggested pantry staples that are always in high demand:
Dry Goods
- Rice
- Pasta
- Dried beans or lentils
- Instant mashed potatoes
- Macaroni & cheese
Canned & Jarred Items
- Canned vegetables and fruits
- Canned soup, chili, or stew
- Canned meats like tuna or chicken
- Spaghetti sauce
- Peanut butter and jelly
Breakfast & Snacks
- Cereal and oatmeal
- Granola or protein bars
- Crackers
- Shelf-stable milk or powdered milk
- Applesauce cups or pouches
Cooking Essentials
- Flour, sugar
- Cooking oil
- Salt, pepper, and baking staples
- Pancake mix and syrup
Ready-to-Eat Items
- Ramen noodles
- Boxed or microwaveable meals
Specialty Items
- Gluten-free or low-sodium options
- Diabetic-friendly snacks
- Baby food and toddler snacks
Please make sure all donated items are unopened, within expiration date, and shelf-stable. Pop-top cans are especially appreciated for those without can openers. Donations can be dropped off at Saddleback Saloon, located on Main Street in downtown Sealy. The local business has partnered with FUMC Sealy to serve as a convenient collection site during the week-long event.
