In just the last week, three states have moved measures forward that chip away at the Federal Reserve’s monopoly on money by facilitating and encouraging the use of gold and silver.

Thomas Jefferson’s question is particularly poignant as the U.S. government continues to run up the national debt. It currently stands at nearly $20 trillion and growing. In all likelihood, our great, great, great grandchildren will still be burdened by this debt.

Why does the US need a huge national police force at all? Can’t state police forces do just as well? The FBI continues to assert never-proven claims that bigger governments are better at law enforcement than smaller ones. If the FBI were abolished, and the sum were divided up into 50 even portions for the states, each state would receive $174 million dollars.

There has been a tremendous amount of talk about the spending deal that was just reached in Congress. Most of the focus has been on who “won” and who “lost” politically. But what nobody is really talking about is that this deal actually increases spending at a time when our debt has been absolutely exploding. These days we toss around the phrase “a trillion dollars” as if it isn’t a big deal. But it is a big deal…
