Trinity Valley Community College hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 7.2 seconds remaining to top the Blinn College men’s basketball team 86-83 Wednesday night at the Kruse Center in Brenham.
The Buccaneers are now 6-5 overall and 0-1 in Region XIV play.
Blinn led 83-79 after a layup from Damian Watson, but Trinity Valley scored the next seven points to produce the final score.
“We’ve got to make our free throws,” Blinn head coach Scott Schumacher said.
Trinity Valley led 45-42 at the half.
Blinn sophomore Calvin Carpenter had a team-high 25 points. Freshman Alex Tsynkevich had 13 points and sophomore Connor Raines followed with 12.
The Buccaneers will continue region play at Paris Junior College at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 42 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
