The Blinn College men’s basketball team defeated Victoria College 84-63 in a Region XIV matchup Saturday at the Kruse Center in Brenham, Texas.
The victory pushed the Buccaneers to 10-10 overall and 3-6 in region play.
“I thought our guys came out and played a solid basketball game,” Blinn head coach Scott Schumacher said. “We were able to build a lead in the first half and then in the second half we played sound basketball and we were able to build on our lead.
“We hit a bump in the road recently but I’m proud of our guys for the resiliency they showed.”
Sophomore guard Calvin Carpenter and freshman center Alex Tsynkevich paced the Buccaneers with 16 points apiece, followed by 15 from freshman guard Braelon Seals. Freshman forwards Tyler Washington and Tyler Jackson tallied 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Blinn continues its season with a Region XIV contest Wednesday, Jan. 19, at Lamar State College-Port Arthur in Port Arthur, Texas.
Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 42 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
