WHARTON, Texas – The Blinn College Buccaneers remain undefeated in conference after downing the Wharton County Junior College Pioneers, 3-0, while claiming their 18th win this season in Wharton.
“It’s always hard to get a road win, and I was proud of the team and their grit this evening,” said Kalie Mader, Blinn head coach. “They stayed aggressive the entire match.”
The Buccaneers played a close first set against the Pioneers, but came out on top, 27-25. Blinn went ahead 2-0 in the match after winning the second set, 25-19. The Buccaneers pulled away in the third set with a 25-13 win to take the match and defeat Wharton for the second time this season.
The Buccaneers increased their record to 18-4 and maintain a 6-0 conference record.
The Buccaneers will host the Blinn Tournament on Oct. 6-7 where they will face off against Frank Phillips College at 3 p.m. and Temple College at 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 6 in the P.E. Building to kick off the first day of the tournament.
