The Blinn College women’s soccer team welcomed Jacksonville College to Rankin Field on Tuesday and sent the Jaguars packing by way of a 4-0 Region XIV victory in Brenham, Texas.
The Buccaneers improved to 5-5-1 overall and 4-4 in the region standings.
From start to finish, Blinn dominated the tempo of the match as it out-shot Jacksonville 33-0 to go with five corner kicks.

“This was a fantastic team win,” Bucs head coach Alexandria Jackson said. “We are finally getting key players back from injury and the impact of those returns showed in today’s performance, especially with Starr Humphreys opening her scoring account and Alyssa Wright adding on to her season total. We faced many threats throughout the match but controlled the game through our possession play.”
The Bucs opened the scoring in the 10th minute of play when freshman midfielder Marguerite Funk rolled a perfect pass to the top of the Jaguar box and a wide-open Wright collected it before winning a one-on-one battle with the opposing goalkeeper with a quick kick to the back-right corner.
Wright, a sophomore forward, struck again in the 18th minute off an assist from sophomore forward Marissa Aparicio.
Humphreys made it 3-0 in the 69th minute on a give from Wright, and sophomore forward Alexia Richard closed out the scoring in the 88th with help from sophomore forward MaKayla Police.

Blinn’s season resumes with a road match at region foe Angelina College scheduled for 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 8, in Lufkin, Texas.
Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 49 national championships since 1987.
