The Blinn College women’s and men’s soccer teams are gearing up for postseason action, with the women set to host Trinity Valley Community College on Friday and the men traveling to LSU-Eunice on Oct. 30.
Women’s Playoff Match: Blinn vs. Trinity Valley
The Buccaneers women’s soccer team (7-6-1, 6-5 Region XIV) will kick off their playoff journey at 7 p.m. Friday at Rankin Field in Brenham, Texas. The opening-round match of the Region XIV Tournament will be streamed live at www.buccaneersports.com.
Blinn enters the tournament as the second seed in the Region XIV South Division, while Trinity Valley (10-3, 9-3) secured the third seed from the North. Both teams are part of an eight-team bracket vying for an automatic spot in the NJCAA Division I Women’s Soccer Championship in Wichita, Kansas.
The Buccaneers and Cardinals faced off earlier this season, with Trinity Valley edging out a 1-0 victory on Sept. 13 at Rankin Field. However, Blinn is no stranger to postseason success. The Bucs are making their fifth consecutive playoff appearance and will host an opening-round match for the second straight season. In 2023, they defeated the Cardinals 4-0 in the same round on home turf.
Men’s Playoff Match: Blinn vs. LSU-Eunice
The Buccaneer men’s team (11-6-3, 7-5 Region XIV) is heading into the Gulf South District Tournament with momentum after defeating the Texas A&M Corps of Cadets in a non-region match earlier this week.
The Bucs, the third seed in the Region XIV South Division, will travel to face LSU-Eunice on Wednesday, Oct. 30, at 6:30 p.m. in Eunice, La. The Gulf South District Tournament, like the women’s tournament, includes eight teams competing for an automatic berth in the NJCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Championship in Wichita.
Blinn will meet the Bengals for the second time this season, having secured a 3-1 victory on Sept. 13 at Rankin Field. LSU-Eunice was ranked No. 12 in the NJCAA Division I poll at the time.
Since launching the men’s soccer program in 2018, the Buccaneers have qualified for the postseason every year. This year’s appearance marks their seventh consecutive trip to the playoffs. Blinn notched its first playoff win in 2022 and built on that success with another first-round victory in 2023.
Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 49 national championships since 1987
