Blinn College softball has signed six players – including two pitchers – expected to make an impact as soon as they arrive on campus.
Bobbi Berkey (British Columbia, Canada), Kalli Edwards (Vidor), Alyssa Hitt (Houston), Samantha Junkin (Liberty Hill) Katy Sawyer (League City) and Lauren Silver (Corpus Christi) all signed NJCAA letters of intent and will arrive at Blinn in time for the 2016 season.
A pitcher, Berkey was recommended by a friend of Church and features a good drop ball and a solid change-up. Junkin, a pitcher from Liberty Hill High School, is a former teammate of freshman outfielder Meghann Wrinkle. Junkin relies on spin and pinpoint control to get outs.
Edwards, an outfielder, showed interest in Blinn College from the start of the recruiting process, while Hitt primarily plays third base.
Sawyer, a catcher, is both solid on the defensive and offensive side, while Silver is a utility infielder and a tremendous athlete, Church said.
Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 30 NJCAA national championships since 1987. For more information, visit www.buccaneersports.com.
