The 2-0 victory in the best-of-three matchup improved the Buccaneer Valorant squad to 4-1 in National Esports Collegiate Conference (NECC) play. Blinn is in second place in its conference group and remains fifth in the NECC/Collegiate Valorant Hub Top 3o rankings.
“We are preparing for the College Esports Commissioner’s Cup regional finals and Collegiate Valorant this weekend, so this victory was a great start to the week,” Blinn head coach Aaron Kapiko said.

Competing for the Bucs were sophomore Austin Ray and freshmen Hayden Whitaker, Khanh Dewey, Shawn Fox, and Adam Laamoumi.
Blinn’s Valorant squad competes in the Collegiate Esports Commissioner’s Cup regional finals beginning at 9 a.m. on both Saturday, Oct. 22, and Sunday, Oct. 23. The Bucs will also compete in Collegiate Valorant Phase 1 Round 1 play beginning at 3 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Blinn’s opponents have yet to be announced.
The Buccaneer Overwatch team will play a pair of matches on Tuesday, Oct. 18, starting with a 7 p.m. bout against Colorado School of Mines and ending with an 8:15 p.m. tilt against Stone Child College.
Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 42 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
