The Buccaneers are now in the quarterfinals, where they will face the winner of a first-round tilt between Wake Technical Community College Gold and Wake Technical Community College Blue. The quarterfinal match will take place at 6 p.m. on Saturday, April 23.
Competing for Blinn on Monday were Dylan Gerlach, Ziyad Khallaf, Hayden Miller, Chase Siragusa, and Michael Pope.
“We were a bit sloppy in game one but cleaned it up for game two and came away with a clean win as a team,” Blinn head coach Aaron Kapiko said. “We are excited to continue our playoff run later this week against one of the Wake Technical teams. Quarterfinals is a good place to be but certainly not the end goal for this team.”
The Buccaneers’ Overwatch team is also in the NJCAA Esports playoffs and will compete in a first-round tilt against Union County College at 6 p.m. on Friday.
Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 42 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
