In their first match of the season, the Buccaneers were defeated 2-0 in a best-of-three bout.
Competing for Blinn were sophomores Brett Fahrenholz and Christian Ekpenike, along with freshmen Clay Herd and Jacob Starr.
“We are going to fix up some of the weaknesses Boise State exploited and come back next week to try and secure a win,” Blinn assistant coach Kyle Murto said. “This was a learning experience for the majority of my players, as this was the first competition for everyone but Brett.”
The Super Smash Bros team returns to play when it takes on Irvine Valley College at 6 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 29. Blinn’s Valorant team will face Texas A&M University (White) at 6 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 26, and the Buccaneers Rocket League team will also be in action with a 6 p.m. tilt against Oakland University.
Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 42 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
