The Blinn College women’s soccer team hit an offensive lull Tuesday, but its defense came through with a shutout to help the Buccaneers earn a 0-0 draw with North American University in Missouri City, Texas.
The Buccaneers are now 3-5-1 overall.
“In order to win games, we must score goals; that’s the aim of the game,” Blinn head coach said. “We are currently in a drought. Night in and night out our backline does everything it takes to keep us in the game, but if we don’t convert on chances we won’t win.”
The Bucs dominated the match offensively despite coming out of it without a goal. Blinn out-shot North American 15-0 with seven corner kicks to the Stallions’ zero.
“As a coach you look at things like, ‘Are we entering into the final third of the field and are we able to take shots?’ We are doing those things and out-shooting our opponents, even dominating in possession; we just aren’t converting. We will continue to chip away at it in practice.”
Blinn’s season continues with a Region XIV road match against Texas Southmost College at 11 a.m. on Friday in Brownsville, Texas.
Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 49 national championships since 1987
