The Bucs swept Victoria College 3-0 in their conference home opener Tuesday night at the Kruse Center, winning their 10th straight match. Blinn posted 25-11, 25-12, 25-15 wins in a match that took less than an hour.
“I thought the girls played really well tonight,” head coach Terry Gamble said. “Our defense and ball control were good. When we can do that, we’re a very good team.”
Jayde Shelton led Blinn with 14 kills. As a team, the Bucs had a kill rate of .357. Reagan Casey added 11 kills, Ashley Taylor seven and Guilia Hortelan six.
Casey led Blinn with a .666 kill percentage, followed by Taylor at .636.
On defense, Lixai Velez led Blinn with 12 digs, and Kyndal Coufal and Hortelan added seven each. Taylor and Shelton paced the Bucs with seven and five block assists, respectively.
Blinn is 11-1 on the season and 2-0 in conference play. The Bucs travel Thursday to Wharton County Community College for another conference match scheduled for 6 p.m. Blinn will then play in the Temple Tournament on Friday and Saturday.
