The Bucs, ranked seventh in the initial poll, are on a 10-match winning streak during which they have only lost three games.
Blinn, 11-1 on the season, received 162 points, ranking only behind top-ranked Iowa Western Community College (4-0) with 180 points and all nine first-place votes and No. 2 Miami Dade College (3-1) at 171 points.
Blinn has already beaten Tyler Junior College, ranked seventh in this week’s poll, 3-1 in its conference opener last Thursday. Conference member Trinity Valley Community College (9-1) is 16th in this week’s poll. The Bucs host Trinity Valley next Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the Kruse Center.
Blinn’s Jayde Shelton is ranked third nationally in kills per set at 4.42. Shelton is seventh in the nation in total kills with 159. Teammate Reagan Casey is fourth nationally in hitting percentage at .392. Ashley Taylor of Blinn is seventh nationally in blocks at 1.58 per set.
“I’m proud of what this team has accomplished so far this season,” said head coach Terry Gamble. “We have a long way to go and a lot of improving to do.”
