The Blinn College esports Valorant team recently competed in the three-day Harrisburg University Esports Festival and placed third/fourth after earning a 5-3 record.
Competing for the Buccaneers over the weekend were sophomores , Teague Morgan, and Katie Beene, along with freshmen Michael Rieger and Angelina Wu.
In single-round matchups on days one and two of the Festival, Blinn defeated Harrisburg University, Penn State University, Michigan State University, Maryville University, and West Virginia University.
The Bucs’ fell to the University of St. Thomas on day one before dropping matchups to St. Clair College on days two and three.
“While we didn’t win the event, I am happy with our performance,” Blinn esports head coach and Valorant manager Aaron Kapiko said. “Our new players had to step in and sub right away and they performed admirably. A huge shoutout goes to Angelina Wu and Katie Beene, as well as our veteran players on the team who stayed strong and battled through some adversity to push us above where people expected us to place coming into the weekend. I am excited for what the rest of this year holds for the team.”
Blinn Valorant continues its season with a National Association of Collegiate Esports tilt against Butler University at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 25.
Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 49 national championships since 1987.
