PASADENA, Texas – Blinn College men’s basketball was able to hang with San Jacinto College-Central nearly the entire first half but San Jacinto was able to pull away from the Buccaneers for a 97-72 victory Saturday afternoon in Pasadena.
Blinn trailed 32-30 with 6:30 left in the first half but ended the half poorly and San Jacinto kept its momentum the rest of the way. The Buccaneers fall to 18-8 overall with the loss and 8-8 in Region XIV play.
Morris Dunnigan did have a good game offensively with 31 points. James Harrison was able to chip in 13 points and Corey Henderson added 10 points in the loss.
Blinn did put up fight for the majority of the first half. Trailing 32-30, Blinn couldn’t gain any momentum as San Jacinto closed the half on a 17-4 run to take a 49-34 lead into halftime.
It didn’t get much better in the second half as Blinn was only able to get within 15 points on a couple of occasions as San Jacinto cruised to the 25-point victory.
Blinn will be back home Wednesday, Feb. 17 against Lone Star College – Cy-Fair at 7:30 p.m. The Cy-Fair game will be the Blinn College Alumni & Friends/Letterman Game.
