The Blinn College esports team fell to the University of Guam in a Super Smash Bros Ultimate matchup on Thursday.
Guam defeated the Buccaneers 2-0 in a best-of-three National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE) series.
Blinn is now 1-5 in the NACE West-Central Conference.
Competing for the Bucs were Joshua Delossantos, Brady Landry, Gabe Pipes, and Tanner Hicks.
“We finished our season 1-5, which was not the expected outcome,” Blinn assistant coach and Super Smash Bros manager Kyle Murto said. “Unfortunately, this is just how it goes for esports sometimes.”
Though its collegiate league season is finished, Blinn Super Smash Bros Ultimate will compete in an open collegiate tournament hosted by the University of North Texas-Dallas and Dallas Baptist University beginning on Saturday, Oct. 28.
