BOSSIER CITY, La. – Blinn College men’s basketball was able to step up its intensity enough to pull away in the second half for a 102-74 victory over Bossier Parish Community College Saturday evening on the road.
The Buccaneers led by a mere four points at the half but outscored Bossier Parish 56-32 in the final 20 minutes to win the conference opener and improve to 8-0 overall.
Corey Henderson was able to get the transition offense going and scored 30 points to lead Blinn while Morris Dunnigan was right behind with 20 points.
Link Kabadyundi chipped in with 14 points, LaKendric Hyson had 11 and John Dewey finished with 10 points.
The game did not start out how Blinn would have liked as Bossier Parish scored the first 11 points of the game but the Buccaneers recovered from the slow start. Blinn was able to outplay Bossier Parish for the rest of the half to claim a 46-42 lead at the break.
“I thought we played well and stuck together through some early adversity,” said Blinn coach Scott Schumacher. “Anytime you get a road win in conference it is like gold.”
The transition offense was working in the first half and that continued in the second half as Blinn took the slim lead and made the game look like a blowout by outscoring Bossier Parish by 24 in the final 20 minutes to claim the victory.
Blinn will have a tough test at home Tuesday, Nov. 24, as it will host No. 11 Trinity Valley Community College at 7:30 p.m.
