San Jacinto eked out a 2-1 victory in a pitcher’s duel before the Buccaneers rallied for a 9-4 victory in game two to finish the three-game series.

Blinn is now 6-12 overall and 3-4 in the South.

In the opener, Buccaneers starting pitcher Evan Aschenbeck only allowed a two-run home run in the top of the fourth inning, but that proved to be the difference. He was otherwise spectacular, hurling six innings of four-hit ball with eight strikeouts and just one walk. Gage Boehm pitched a scoreless seventh for the Bucs.

Blinn opened the scoring in the first inning on a Dave Wilson RBI.

In the series finale, the Bucs scored eight runs in the final three innings to rally out of a 3-1 hole. Trailing 4-2 in the bottom of the seventh, Blinn plated four runs to take the lead and added three more in the eighth.

Wilson led the Bucs’ seven-hit attack with three hits (all singles) and four RBI. Sean Monsour walked three times and drove in a pair of runs, and Liam Koleci and Luke Nail also collected RBIs.

CJ Gardner earned the victory on the mound for Blinn with 2/3 innings of relief. Reliever Eric Oakes shut the door on the Gators with three strikeouts in the ninth.

The Bucs host South Suburban College at 2 p.m. Monday, March 7, at Fireman’s Park in Brenham.

Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 42 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
