The Buccaneers shut out the visiting Eagles at Hohlt Park’s Rankin Field in Brenham, Texas, and improved to 2-0 in region play.
Blinn’s men’s and women’s soccer programs began in fall 2018. On Wednesday, the women surpassed their 2-0 start from the 2021 spring season.

“All credit goes to the players because they’ve worked day in and day out in the heat and harsh weather and have shown up and done everything I’ve asked them to do,” Blinn head coach Alexandria Jackson said. “They deserve all the credit for this start. We have a very deep team and a very competitive team, and we showed that today.”
The Buccaneers wasted no time taking control of the game, as freshman midfielder Chloe Hood sailed a free kick over the outstretched hands of Northeast’s goalkeeper for a 1-0 lead in the fifth minute.
Following a weather delay shortly after Hood’s goal, play resumed.
Blinn maintained offensive pressure and outshot the Eagles 20-3.
Freshman goalkeeper Sydney Gibbs also gave her team a spark with three saves, including a diving scoop to her left that preserved a 1-0 lead in the 55th minute.
“It feels good to see that we’re on the right side of things right now and that our hard work is paying off,” Gibbs said. “We’re communicating and we have a lot of chemistry on this team, which I think is just helping push the overall flow of the game in our favor.”
The Buccaneers added an insurance goal in the 77th minute when freshman midfielder Brianna Hoffman took on assist from sophomore midfielder Halee Hernandez and turned it into a header.
Blinn continues conference play with a home match against 16th-ranked Angelina College at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Rankin Field.
Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 42 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
