The Blinn College men’s soccer team used a pair of first-half goals to shut out Jacksonville College 2-0 in a Region XIV matchup Tuesday in Jacksonville, Texas.
The victory propelled the Buccaneers to 11-4 overall and 5-3 in the region.
“It wasn’t the prettiest game to watch, but I thought the lads worked very hard for each other to secure a solid win on the road today,” Blinn head coach Michael McBride said. “We now have an entire week to prepare for a big rematch against Angelina College.”
Blinn is currently in third place in the Region XIV South Division, with Angelina in second at 5-0-2 while Coastal Bend is in first at 6-0-1.

Sophomore midfielder Toby Lansdowne got the Bucs going Tuesday when he turned an assist from sophomore forward David Garcia into a goal in the 23rd minute. Garcia later scored on a penalty kick in the 33rd minute – his 16th tally of the season – to close out the scoring. Garcia has scored a goal in five consecutive matches and now owns Blinn’s single-season program record for points in a season with 38.
Blinn totaled 18 shots (10 on goal) compared to 14 for the Jaguars. Blinn also had a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks.
Buccaneer freshman goalkeeper Noah LeMaster made five saves as he picked up his 11th victory of the year. LeMaster’s 11 wins are the second most for Blinn in a single season, behind only Kevin Pena’s 12 in 2022.
Next up for Blinn is a region home bout against Angelina scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 10, at Rankin Field inside Hohlt Park in Brenham, Texas.
Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 44 NJCAA national championships since 1987.?
