A complete team effort paved the way to victory for the Blinn College men’s basketball team as the Buccaneers routed the Houston Gladiators 123-74 on Saturday at the Kruse Center in Brenham, Texas.
Blinn’s entire active roster received playing time and each Buccaneer scored in the blowout triumph.
“I’m glad all of our guys got in the game and scored because they work extremely hard every day in practice and deserved a chance to be out on the floor for us,” Blinn head coach Scott Schumacher said. “It was good to get this game in the win column, and now it’s time to go back to work in the region.”
Leading the way offensively for Blinn (13-5 overall) was freshman wing Anthony Isaac, who tallied 24 points. Sophomore guard Nick Folk and freshman forward Jaylin Payne finished with 13 points apiece, sophomore guard Jadin Johnson had 11 points, and sophomore guard Masiah Gilyard registered his fifth double-double of the season with 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Blinn built a 57-32 halftime advantage.
Up next for the Bucs is the continuation of its Region XIV slate, which will now exclusively feature matchups against Region XIV South Division for the rest of the regular season. Blinn hosts Coastal Bend College at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 24, at the Kruse Center.
Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 45 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
