The Blinn College esports Rocket League team dropped a pair of matches in National Association of Collegiate Esports (NACE) play Monday.
The Buccaneers played two best-of-five series — one against the University of Cincinnati and the other against Thomas College — and fell 3-0 in each.
Blinn finished 0-6 in the NACE East 6 Conference.
Competing for the Bucs were Xavier Johnson, Braeden Buffington, and Logan McClain.
“While we were able to adjust and perform better from match to match, it just was not enough at the end of the day,” said Blinn assistant coach and Rocket League manager Kyle Murto. “We still are making rotational mistakes and mechanical issues that are causing far too many issues. The downside to playing in such an insanely talented division is that any and all mistakes we make will be taken advantage of. We are definitely the underdogs in this conference, and we have to play perfect if we want to come away with a win. We will be coming back next semester in NJCAA Esports play, where we will be looking to have a strong performance and make a deep run in the playoffs.”
Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 44 NJCAA national championships since 1987.?
