The Blinn College esports Overwatch team continued its run in the Activision Blizzard Collegiate Homecoming tournament Saturday and picked up two wins in the Swiss Stage round.
The Swiss Stage round consists of 10 stages.
In Stage 3, the Buccaneers bested the University of Connecticut 3-0 in a best-of-five series before outlasting the University of Illinois 3-1 in Stage 4.
Blinn is now 3-1 in the Swiss Stage round.
Competing for the Bucs were Matthew Hutchings, Andrew Dugas, Donivan Straight, Haluk Tanriseven, and Francisco Amezcua.
“This was a solid bounce back following a 1-1 record last weekend and we’re excited to see what this Overwatch team can continue to do,” Blinn assistant coach Ryan Lucich said.
Blinn will continue Collegiate Homecoming play with Stages 5 and 6 at 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 23. The Bucs’ opponents are not revealed until a few days prior to each match.
Blinn esports’ next match will see the Buccaneer Rocket League team face the University of North Carolina in a National Association of College Esports tilt at 6 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 18.
Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 44 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
