The Blinn College District is excited to announce that 174 student-athletes have been named to the fall 2023 Don Wilhelm Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.
To be eligible, student-athletes must post a 3.0 or better grade point average (GPA) and pass a minimum of 12 college-level credit hours.
Twenty Buccaneer athletes achieved a perfect 4.0 grade point average: baseball players Tyler Bogusz, Zachary Hudspeth, Marshall Lipsey, Carson Peschel, and Tyler Trapp; football players Eric Aschenbeck, Patrick Brinkley, Joseph Foxworth, and Malik Francis; women’s soccer players Haylee McBride, Brianna Ortega, and Sofia Penning; men’s golfers Caden Cawvey and Herman Holst; softball players Darian Deleon and Haley Rust; men’s soccer player Nicholas Anguiano; cheerleader Sydney Junek; dancer Madison Swain; and esports competitor Logan Rivera.
The volleyball team led all Blinn athletic programs with a 3.43 GPA, while the women’s soccer team followed with a 3.21 GPA. Baseball had the most honor roll students with 30, followed by football with 24.
“Year after year, it brings us great pride as an athletic department to watch our student athletes succeed both in athletics and in the classroom,” Athletic Director Scott Schumacher said. “I speak for Blinn College when I say that we are extremely proud of what our student athletes achieved in the fall semester.”
The honor roll is named after former Blinn Athletic Director Don Wilhelm, an NJCAA Hall of Famer who served the College for 10 years.
