The Blinn College men’s soccer team scored six first-half goals and cruised to an 8-0 win Saturday over Trinity Valley Community College at Rankin Field in Brenham, setting a team record for goals in a single season.
The Buccaneers could have added to the score in the second half as they kept up the pressure, with several shots rocketing off the goalpost or scooting just wide of the net.
The win improved Blinn’s season record to 8-4-2 and 5-4-1 in conference.
The Bucs have scored 49 goals so far this season with several games still to go. The previous mark was 42 goals in 2019.
Seven different players scored goals against Trinity Valley, led by forward Kamille Kum with two. Crispin Tshimanga scored his first collegiate goal for Blinn and also had an assist.
Blinn was able to play its entire roster, assistant coach Rudy Roediger said.
“We got to play everybody who was healthy and available,” Roediger said. “It was good for our guys who got the start to go out there and score super early. We got a goal about three minutes in. We wanted to start strong.”
Roediger said Marco Del Vecchio had a strong game at forward.
“He was very mature today. He got fouled a couple of times and didn’t lash out. He kept his head and moved on,” said Roediger.
The Bucs’ next conference game is Wednesday, a road trip to Jacksonville College for a 5 p.m. matchup.
