The win was the Buccaneers’ third in a row and fifth in six games as they improved to 14-11 overall and 7-7 in Region XIV.
“Great win,” Blinn head coach Scott Schumacher said. “Any time you can win a conference game on the road, that’s a good one. I thought our guys played through a lot of adversity and kept playing for 40 minutes, so I was very proud of how they were able to come together and come out with a win.”
The Buccaneers held a 29-27 lead before holding off the Pirates in the second half.
Leading the way for Blinn was sophomore guard Calvin Carpenter, who finished with 16 points. Sophomore wing Connor Raines added 14, and freshman forward Tyler Washington and freshman center Alex Tsynkevich chipped in nine apiece.
Blinn hosts Coastal Bend College for a region matchup at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 9, at the Kruse Center in Brenham.
Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 42 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
