“It’s good to finish the tournament, 4-0,” Blinn head coach Terry Gamble said. “I thought we played well at times and other times we were unfocused. We need to get better at that. I thought Kellen Dorotik had a good day offensively and I thought our middles also played well.”
Against Western Texas, four Buccaneers stood out offensively. Sophomore outside hitter Jaedyn Newman paced Blinn with 10 kills, while Dorotik, a freshman right-side hitter, had nine kills. Sophomore middle blockers Taylor Glendening and Brooke Pattschull had eight and seven, respectively.
Freshman setter Chloe Howard posted 26 set assists. Glendening chipped in a trio of aces at the service line, while freshman libero Emma Whitsel had two.
Defensively, freshman libero Cierra Pesak had 14 digs, while sophomore hitter/libero Kaylen Kruse had nine.
Dorotik shined during Blinn’s tournament finale, registering a team-best 14 kills. Pattschull tallied seven.
Up next, the Buccaneers begin Region XIV play when they visit Tyler Junior College at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 29, in Tyler, Texas.
Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 44 NJCAA national championships since 1987.
