The Blinn College men’s basketball team fell in an 85-78 overtime road loss to Temple College on Tuesday.
The Buccaneers are 2-3 overall and 1-3 away from Brenham.
“Hopefully we’re going to learn from these tough losses on the road,” Blinn head coach Scott Schumacher said. “It’s just unfortunate. Our guys are playing extremely hard and competing, we’re just not coming out on top yet. We just need to make a few winning plays and we’ll be OK.”
Freshman center Alex Tsynkevich paced the Buccaneers with 26 points, followed by freshman wing Jaja Sanni, who added 20. Freshman point guard Damian Watson finished with 12 points.
Blinn returns home to host the inaugural Blue Bell Ice Cream Classic Friday and Saturday. Four teams, including the Buccaneers, will compete at the Kruse Center.
Dallas College-North Lake and Victoria College will face off in the tournament opener at 5 p.m. Friday, followed by a Blinn-University of Arkansas-Cossatot Community College matchup at 7 p.m. On Saturday, Arkansas-Cossatot will take on Victoria at 1 p.m. and Blinn will battle North Lake at 3 p.m.
Blinn has competed in intercollegiate athletics since 1903 and captured 42 NJCAA national championships since 1987. For more information, visit www.buccaneersports.com.
