The Buccaneers were scheduled for a six-game slate across three days, but only managed to play three before heavy rain washed away the weekend. Blinn (10-4) went 1-2 at the tournament.
Against Chattanooga, the Bucs got going early with a pair of runs in the home half of the first and second innings, and led 5-4 after the fourth. Chattanooga rallied to tie the game in the fifth before taking the lead for good with a four-run sixth.
Down 9-5 in the sixth, Blinn cut into its deficit when freshman Erynne Castillo scored on a passed ball before sophomore Skylar Shanahan singled in freshman Alayna Calvillo and sophomore Emily Kristynik to cap the scoring.
Blinn finished with seven hits, including two apiece for Castillo, Boozy, and Shanahan. Boozy finished with three RBIs.
In the pitcher’s circle, freshman Peyton Welker absorbed the loss in a complete-game effort. She allowed five earned runs on 10 hits with five strikeouts and three walks.
The Bucs were scheduled to visit Trinity Valley Community College on Thursday, March 2, but inclement weather has forced a postponement. A makeup date will be announced at a later date. Blinn will instead resume its season Friday, March 3, with a doubleheader at Temple College beginning at 1 p.m. in Temple, Texas.
